Not 'Holly Hobby'....but sorta!!!

close up

Isn't this a darling image? Take a wild guess who drew this!!! No,I can't take credit for this cute little 'Holly Hobby' girl....it's the very talented Sherry Hickey from Bits of Cheer!!! If you have never been to her blog....I highly recommend it....not only does she make beautiful cards for Operation Write Home....but she has written and illustrated a children's book as well!!! You can see my book review of her terrific book here. I bought her book from her a few weeks ago,and we got to chatting through email. She's such a sweetheart that I just had to ask her a favor!!! I mentioned how growing up I loved Holly Hobby ; hence the name of my blog!!! I also, love the Little House on the Prairie era as well. So, I asked... since she apparently has a gift of being able to draw(I can't draw a stick figure,LOL!!!)....yep,I thought....what the heck I'll just 'see' if she would be willing to try her hand at drawing a Holly Hobby girl for me!!! Well,of course we couldn't outright coping Holly Hobby because her image is protected through copyright laws and such....but she used Holly Hobby as inspiration!!! Wow!!! I'm so excited at how beautiful and sweet she looks!!! I don't even think I came close at justifying her on a card!!!

Well,I ended up putting her on a easel card, I do so love easel cards!
I had 'made' Sherry's original drawing into a 'digi stamp'....well,at least I 'think' I did, LOL!! I took the image  (with the help of Photoshop Elements) and made the background transparent. Then saved it as a jpeg....so does that mean it's a digi stamp?....or is there more to the process!?!?! LOL,can you tell that I'm asking for help?!?!?! Any advice from peeps who have taken a actual hand drawn image and created your own digi stamps to share or sell....would be very much appreciated!!! ;) *hint.hint*

I remember Holly Hobby too! This card is gorgeous and that digi is just so cute! Sherry is very talented indeed. Sounds like you did fine creating your digi stamp. Technically, there is no need to make the background transparent unless you plan to place it digitally on top of a pattern or color. Otherwise simply saving it as a 600 dpi should be just fine for printing it out to color. If you need more info. or help just touch base I'm happy to help. :)

That is absolutely beautiful. Your colour choice is perfect.

If you'd saved your image onto the transparent background you put it on (save as PSD or PNG) you would be able to merge it with other digi's easier too. This also works great for paper piecing if you print onto patterned paper.
