Halloween Cards!

OK, I'm not the most efficient person, I will admit it....but, I have been making cards to send to Operation Write Home since March. Just happily making and NOT Thinking,LOL!!! Well,I will also admit....I don't get on Facebook or check out The Forum on OWH that much....and I will also admit, that I have not read all the details and such.
Well, with that in mind, please remember that people have made little comments here and there....but, I really didn't know what they were talking about....soooo, I was checking things out and found some 'deadlines' on WHEN to send them your 'Holiday' cards and stuff!!! Oh my Goodness!!! I really wasn't thinking about 'when' I would be sending them,LOL!!! I was just making them.
Needless to say....I have a box full of cards that are for Easter, Father's and Mother's Day and all of the past Holidays!!!! It didn't seem to 'register' until recently that I'm saving all of these cards and they can't use them until NEXT YEAR!!!!! I know,I know.....you 'seasoned' OWHomers....are shaking your heads right now!!! I AM BLONDE afterall,LOL!!! ;)

Soooo....what should I do? Should I keep doing what I'm doing and send them in whenever I can (keep in mind I have 4 children still at home....plus, I don't really make cards in bulk....although, I really want to start thanks to Yolanda and some of the other girls that do such a great job at making large quanities,it makes me jealous!;)
I am not that good with 'dealines' ,I would think it would put too much pressure on me......plus I'm thinking about going back to school, soon.
I would love to hear what other people do,with cards for the troops. Do you make a bunch.....save them, and send a big box....or send a few at a time? I'm thinking that once school starts for the kids, I could really try harder and get more cards done in bulk style!!!
I did get 4 of these Halloween cards done today!!!.....using up some old ribbon and making them pretty simple. I had made a whole sheet of these jack-o-lanterns the other night. I water colored them all in and circled punched them out.....with no real clue as to what I was going to do with them!! So, I came up with these simple but cute little cards.
Well, thanks for letting me ramble on!! Here's the deets and thanks for stopping by!!! ;)

Holley's Homemade Hamburger Helper Casserole!

Hey,you like Hamburger Helper? Well, I made this recipe tonight.....so I thought maybe some other family might like it as much as we did!!
First two nights ago, I made pan fried potatoes. I made about 10 large Baker Potatoes, (they needed to be eaten).  I made a pan and quickly realized it was alot......so we ate dinner and then I just fried the rest of them afterwards.......I just cubed up the potatoes and added this awesome seasoning that I buy in bulk from BJ's (you could probably get it at Sam's or Costco,too.....maybe even the grocery stores carry it (we shop in bulk)
Anyways,I fried mine in a little olive oil and just tossed them around in the pan......it takes a long time to get all these potatoes done!! That's why I stopped and ate and then cooked the rest later!!! Anyways I had two pans of these potatoes....so I just cooked them half way.....so I wouldn't have to cook them all night long,LOL!!

Here's the seasoning....I use it all the time....not just for chicken!!

So, if you make the potatoes the same day as your gonna eat them...you may want to allow for cook time on your potatoes. Or maybe even use tater tots,or hash browns to make it easier??
OK,back to the recipe......So today I cooked 2 pounds of hamburger meat....then drained. I added a can of this cheese soup to my meat and the seasoning that I used on the potatoes and cooked for about 5 minutes, just to stir ingredients well.
Then,I sprayed a large glass pan with Pam spray and added the entire leftover potatoes. I covered a layer of shredded cheese on top and then added the hamburger mix to it. I cooked it for 30 minutes on 350. I took it out and sprinkled the top with some more shredded cheese and put it back in the oven for 5 minutes, just to melt the cheese. My kids loved it and everyone got seconds!!! If you please 4 kids and a hubby then you did an OK job ;)

If you try it,let me know how you guys like it!! Enjoy!
* I was thinking onions would be really good with this and maybe try sour cream as a topping!

two vintage cards

I made these two vintage cards today. They use the Brocade DSP that is in the clearance section on my Stampin' Up! site. Very beautiful paper....I love vintage,so it's perfect....and a great deal ;)
I used the new distressing tool kit from SU! too. I used the sanding block....which is what made the 'white' section show thru on the thank you card. Then I used the flat stamp and tea stained ink on the scallop for you card, which gives it that 'molted' old paper look!!! Hope you like them ;) I linked the words , for easy shopping! Let me know if you need help placing a order with me.....
Thanks for stopping by and have a great night! ;)

Book Review!!!

Hello and happy Sunday to you!!! I wanted to tell you about a special book I just received in the mail the other day!!! The book is called "Card Auntie's Wonderful Workshop". It's written and illustrated by Sharon Hickey. She is new to Operation Write Home , and that's how I met her!! This book is wonderful!!! If you are a card maker and especially if you have children....this books for you!!! My children have loved reading it over the last few days....when I told them that it was autographed for them BY the author/illustrator....they thought that was the neatest thing!!!! They told ALL their friends that I've actually 'TALKED" ...(emailed)....the lady who wrote this book!!! LOL...it was priceless!!! ;)
Anyways,I just wanted to let you know ,that  we have enjoyed it as a family and the kids really loved finding all the hidden pictures of the snail....what a clever idea...it really gets their competitive spirits up....let me tell you....of 'who' can find the snail the fastest.....this would be great to read to young children!!!
My kids are getting a little big and I really don't read to them much anymore, they read to me now!!! But I sat down and read it to them in the living room and even my almost 13 year old joined us....I didn't ask him to....but was happy he did!!!  If you ever do a ' kids camp' or 'mommy and me' class....I would suggest taking this book for the kids....it makes them 'understand' the importance of 'snail mail' and creating cards for others!!! It even talks about how Card Auntie sends cards to people who serve our country!!! Awesome if you already make cards for OWH!!! It's a very sweet book for young and old alike!! ;)
Sherry has two blogs that you can go and visit!! Please go send her some love as well!!

Click here to visit her CRAFT BLOG.
Click here to visit her BOOK BLOG!!!

Thanks Sherry it's a pleasure to read!!! ;)

  3. Emery Board
  4. Sanding Block
  5. and a flat small stamp (for blending and rubbing the ink with)
I used it on my card from yesterday. I will make another video later on me actually using it on a project. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!!! ;)

Vintage Challenge!

I made this card for a new blog I found called "Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog". The challenge was to do a vintage theme. This is my first time to participate in one of their challenges. So,I hope I'm doing this right! I love vintage anything....but today I was a little stumped, probably because I've still been trying to fix my blog!!! I can't figure it out...and it's driving me crazy!!! To read more on how you can help me fix my blog, click here!!! So I just started playing around with the new Distressing Essentials Kit from SU! and I literally 'threw' this card together. I didn't really give it a thought, like I normally try to do!! Oh,well....it came out OK enough.

I needed a 'thinking of you card' for a dear sweet lady who just found out she has cancer. Please keep Kathy in your prayers....she's a breast cancer survivor and now just found out she has cancer in her intestines!!! I hate cancer....I know things don't always go our way....God's way is perfect.....but we don't always understand the WHY......but I know that, NO PAIN is Wasted!! So,just please pray for her and her family!!! Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great rest of the weekend.....stay cool!!! ;)

Daniel's Birthday Stuff

inside of the card

My son's best friend Daniel is having a birthday party on Sat. So, Hunter made this birthday card (a little help from me) using the Cricut. I then made him a altered clipboard with his initial and a bank can with his name on it. We will fill the can with some dollar bills to get his money collection going! I hope he likes everything!!!
As you can see, I still haven't figured out how to get rid of the 'white background' parts to my buttons and banner. If anyone knows of a tutorial and can point me in the right direction, that would be great. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! ;)

Help!!

Hey guys....I hope you like my new blog's updated look!!! I made it using My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up!The designing part is really easy for me using this great program, so I really love THAT part of it!!!
Where I need help is adding it to my blog....the technical stuff,LOL!!! I've been at this all day and I give up!!! What I'm trying to do is take the 'white space' or 'white background' from my header and all my blog buttons!!! I have ALREADY made it a transparent background on all of these using Photoshop Elements. That's how I did it before.....on my other header I created!!! this time.....it's NOT cooperating!!! Can somebody direct me to a video or maybe walk me through the process?!?!?!? I'm not that savvy when it comes to computer technical stuff....but I am proud that I did do everything else!!! I did get a little help from my sister....but this is something we cannot figure out!!! HEEELLLPPP....PLEASE!! ;) Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

Designing my Background and New Header!

Sorry Bleeps!(*blog peeps!*),
If you are visiting me today you will see the mess here on my blog!!! Since 'The Cutest Blog on the Block' is having hosting image problems and by Friday we have to get a new code (because your old one will be gone and you will lose your blog background!). I've tried to go there to grab my code....but you can't get through....and I've been trying for a couple of days now and at different times!!!
I decided to make my own background and header!!! the ones you see here I did design awhile back.....I never added the background, until today though. But,I don't like how it looks.....so I'm redoing a brand new background and header and it will be nice and fresh hopefully real soon!!! I love MDS will let me get my own unique background and header.....made by me ;)
Anyways, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! ;)

sneak peak~Bird House card

This is my first attempt at making one of these birdhouse cards. While I think it came out fine....it seems to be 'missing something' to me! I think it's the sponging....I did add some sponging to the sentiment....but I think it needs it everywhere,LOL!!! I love to sponge....I think it takes your projects to the next level, IMHO.
Anyways,I will be making a video tutorial on this soon .....and this will be the card kit I will be mailing my club girls! if you would like to learn more about joining my stamp club, just click here! I will need your $15 order  by July 27th.....so hurry up...whatcha' waiting for?!?!?!?  ;)

Hello and happy Wednesday to ya'!!! I made this to add to my Etsy store, it's for you to put your prayers into. I have one that I made for my family last year....my kids are always scribbling little notes to God on....I told them that they can write whatever they wanted to and I wouldn't look.....it's private between God and them!!! Boy, that's hard not to want to open that up and read their thoughts!!! ;) ....it's like putting sweets in front of a diabetic and saying look but don't touch!!!LOL!!! Anyways this falls under one of my own personal challenges called Wow Wednesday. I started those challenges when I started this blog but haven't been keeping up on it ,but I'm going to really try and do something crafty everyday and start blogging a little better....WELL,I have started my week off pretty good,so far!!! I have shared these projects awhile ago,so they aren't new...but OWH has punch art going on so I though I'd share them again for anyone that would like to make them. They are really very easy to do. I did use my cricut expression on some of them, noted above in the description....but mostly just used my Stampin' Up! punches!! I used the word window, small, large and wide ovals, heart and various circle punches. I hand drew the faces and added and took away by trimming here and there to get the look I needed. I saw the original idea for the sweet pea and ladybug on Andrea's blog....she is very talented when it comes to punch art!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening! ;)

I made these two cards for my Etsy store. They also qualify for one of my own personal challenges: Two card Tuesday!!! Well, I was up late last night and I had forgotten to make a card for my dad, whose birthday is the 21st.....I knew I'd have to mail it out today.....to make sure he got it in time!!! So... I got a manly stamp set out and went for the same sketch!!! Oh, and this time, I stuck with the sketch more... the only thing is I added layers! It's simple and gets the job done....gotta love it!!! My Stampin' Up! Story!!!

OK,peeps!! I am doing a training program through Stampin' Up! it requires some things outta me that sometimes I'm not comfortable with!!! I am going to come out of my shell a little bit and share some things about myself....hopefully you will get inspired in some way ;)
About 8 years ago, my older sister was showing me some stuff that she had made......out of paper!!! I didn't pay much attention to it, even though I thought it was cute.....it just didn't 'register' with me! Then, a few months later she showed me a brag book that folded out and was decorated really cute.....well, I thought that was sooooo neat.....it was paper.....but she made it fold and it looked so beautiful!!! I got a little more interested then,LOL!! Then she signed up to be a demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and we started a small little Stampin' Club and that's when I was hooked!!! We had lots of fun creating and getting together.....then I moved to another state! I continued to buy from her,but had no one to get together with....it's so much more fun creating with other women!!! But one teeny tiny little problem....I'm very shy!!!
So,I decided to just be a 'hobby demo'....so I can get the discounts and free stuff all to myself,LOL!!! ;)
More recently,I've decided to try and connect with more people ...I have an Etsy store, a blog, and now started participating in challenges. I'm having sooooo much FUN!!! It's the next best thing to having someone to craft with!!! ;)
So,I'm taking the next step.....I want to push myself out of my comfort zone with Stampin' Up! as a business!!! I mean there are lots of demonstrators that are very successful,WHY not me????
I've been paper crafting for 7 years now. Since I've started, the scrap booking business has BOOMED tremendously!!! There are digital, hybrid, traditional scrap booking, card making, altering, and 3-d projects from TONS of Companies to choose from!!! I have tried alot of stuff before completely being sold on Stampin' Up! products.....I remember when I first started out...... I didn't understand the QUALITY in different products....
Boy, now I do!!!!

The main things I love about Stampin' Up! :

  1. ink pads : they store upside down so the ink is always at the top plus they are larger than most in SU! exclusive colors!!!
  2. card stock : heavy card stock that is definitely not flimsy and is in SU! exclusive colors!!!
  3. designer papers : Beautiful patterns and matches SU! exclusive colors
  4. stamps : Nice variety of stamps from talented artists at SU! now in wood or clear mount!! YAY!!!
  5. embellishments : Lots of different styles of quality embellishments to choose from

I love it all!!!!! Especially, how everything matches and goes together making for more professional results when you are crafting!!! Once you try Stampin' up! for the first time ,you will see what I mean.....I have tried "over the counter" (store bought) stuff and even dabbled with other demo-type stamp companies other than SU! before....so I tried just about everything out there!!! But, to me SU!!! is the best of them all......they have soooo many choices with endless possibilities!!! You can even use your Big Shot for fabric (look out quilters and ladies who sew!) and more, and let's not forget SU! Decor' Elements for home decorating.

click pic to enlarge to read MY WHY!!!

So,I wanted to share my story with you and let you know that I am here if you ever need a SU! demo to buy anything (you can click on my shop now button, at the top right of my blog!) ...even if you don't live near me.....I can still be your demo!!! If you are thinking of signing up to be a SU! demo, please consider me.....I'll be glad to help you!!! Stampin' Up! is offering great deals to sign up to be a demo ,so this is a great time!!! If you have been a former SU! demo, you can sign up again for only $35, until the end of July!!!

If you read this whole thing and made it this far.....Congratulations and thank you for letting me ramble on!! ;)

Please click here if you would like to join my Stampin' Club, starting soon!!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

OWH Sketch Challenge # 26

Hello Bleeps!(Blog Peeps!)
I made this card for the Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #26. I did turn the top panel and added more layers, but other than that I followed the sketch. The top panel (with the bicycle), I meant to off center the other layer, but I wanted to put the main image straight.....well, I wasn't thinking and put it crooked....I can't fix it cause' I tried to pull it up to straighten it and it started to rip the card....so it will stay this way,LOL!! Oh,well....have a great day!! ;)
Thanks for stopping by!
